Easy Eco Sexy Spa Skin tips and recipes you can do at home.

Smooth sexy skin does not call for complicated ingredients.

One Tampico Dry Brush. This invigorates you and baby smoothes the skin and it is also known to detoxify.
How- Start from the feet and work your way up, then shower.

My number one beauty oil.  Pure JoJoba Oil. I love this oil for skin, hair, makeup remover, massage oil, aftershave .

Take a small bowl fill about 1/3 with coarse sea salt or coarse sugar. Add jojoba oil to create a very thick oatmeal texture add a drop or two of essential oils or perfume oil if you wish and that easily you have a high quality Spa scrub.

Jojoba oil does not alter fragrance and you can add any drops of pure perfume oil in it. Keep this on hand as a luxurious body and hair oil.

A Curl in Control

I'm going to take a personal beauty moment here. I have long extra thick wavy/curly hair.
Lately, I have been having more bad hair days than good ones. (We beauty artists never pay attention to ourselves) So, out comes the hair elastic and off the face it goes. Well, I was doing a photo shoot with some uber salon hair specialists and there was one woman there named Ouidad who has a salon and product line that specializes in curly hair. So,since I had her captive in my makeup chair. I probed her for some of her expert product suggestions. She looked at my hair and said where's the shine?  So a few days later I come back from a photo shoot LA and there is a little box of curly hair artillery waiting for me.
I used everything in the box and I have to say the results were extreme hair makeover.
I have been getting nonstop questions and comments asking me what I use to get me hair looking beautiful and shiny! Even in the last 2 days of NYC rain my hair is holding up.
Here is the product line up of my new  indispensable hair products in order of use.
Clear and Gentle Shampoo  a low PH cleanser.
Balancing Rinse Conditioner Really lightweight and detangling
Climate Control This is a Lightweight frizz controlling gel that can also be used to straighten hair.I combed it through while my hair was lightly damp.
Shine Glaze Serum Just a teeny bit of this.
Finish Holding and Styling mist.
The next day I used Botanical Boost Spray-in conditioner which revived my hair for another rainy day.
Because I am a perfume maker as well, I appreciate that her products are low scent.
Yes, I'm totally hooked. Thanks, Ouidad! http://www.Ouidad.com

Better than Powder!

I have been shooting in the beautiful, but hot Maldive islands with ELLE magazine. I am really a stickler for natural looking skin. So, rather than dusting powder all over to alleviate shine: I utilize one of the many anti-shine and mattifier products now on the market. These products counteract the oily-look invisibly so that you don't see any residue. My favorite is made by Peter Thomas Roth.
You should apply it to clean skin. Just squeeze a little dab on your finger and smooth it over the potentially offending areas. It is great for T-zone, forehead, bald head,etc...
Advice when anti-shining your skin: skip the cheeks and let them illuminate, so you still have a healthy glow. This little bottle will travel in your bag with no mess, no more crumbling powder! Love it!

Learn how to choose mascara and max your lashes.

This is makeup that I did in Harper's Bazaar for a great article about salon lash extensions. F.Y.I.  I hand-applied real hair extensions to achieve this special effect. (Do not try this at home).

Today we are going to talk about maxing out your eyelashes with the correct mascara.
Mascara has advanced leaps and bounds.

Take a look in the mirror.  If you use the appropriate  mascara for the look you would like to achieve, it saves you from that  layered, caked on look.
If your lashes are sparse  have large gaps in between choose a thickening mascara.
Some have 2 parts that allow you to go Twiggy extreme.
Maybe your lashes are short. There are great lengthening mascaras out there with building fibers.

  • Start with clean dry lashes. free of oils, creams, mascara residue.
  • Curl lashes before mascara by holding curler  safely close to lash line and squeeze 10 times quickly.(one long squeeze can break lashes).
  • Check mascara wand for globs and start at base of lashes with a slight horizontal wiggle across base of lashes then glide up to tips. Coat all lashes once completely.
  • Comb lashes to separate.
  • After your makeup is done you can take your wand again (lightly blotted) and touch up.
If you have chronic smudging issues, there is a great mascara called Fiberwig at Sephora.
It comes off with warm temperature water!
If you like a really simply straight forward mascara I like Defencils by Lancome. It is my must have kit mascara!

Buy a mascara that you can afford to replace when it starts drying out. If it's old and dried out it doesn't matter how fabulous it was when you bought it.
Here are some of my favorites...

The Best Vacation Sunscreen Tips

Here I am in hot Rio De Janeiro doing an advertising campaign and working hard to keep
supermodels, clients and crew from frying in the Brazilian sun
So, Let's talk sun protection. The same methods apply for men or women. Skin burns, ouch!
Don't ruin your fabulous holiday in pain and looking like a lobster.

First of all, after showering, dry off then apply sunscreen all over your body and face before you go out into the sun. Now you know that every inch has some spf on it.(This helps eliminate those swimsuit and sandal tan lines). Sun protection should then be applied again when you are out on the beach. Remember, sun products can take a while to take effect. If you are thinking of throwing your first layer of protection on 2 hours into sunbathing. I would suggest a t-shirt hat and umbrella because it is probably too late!
Note:Often forgotten areas: ears,scalp/partline, feet/toes,lips and eye lids.

How to choose sunscreen. You will need more than just one.
One high spf for all over body.  Neutrogena Ultra sheer body mist sunblock. Dries clear, not greasy, easy to cover back and even coverage. One for face Shiseido Ultimate protection face cream 55 spf is super sheer no white glowy, greasy face . cont. below...

...Eyes, lips and ears are touch up spots that need constant re-application. A touch up stick is great so your not fiddling around with products for each little spot. I like this stick by Anthony Logistics. You can use it everywhere.

Read more great tips. After Brazil, I will be on my way to a fabulous shoot in the Maldives.
